I'm not really sure where the birds were but I flew through this stage for quite a while and gave up. Has an endless world feel which was fun at first but then just got tedious to me. Maybe some sort of visual or audial cues to where to search? Birds chirping in the distance or something similar.
Making the birds stand out was a huge challenge and I'm definitely aware that it's not ideal. However our main focus was the visual aesthetic.
For cues, there is a white highlight around the birds and they do play an instrument that comes into hearing when you get near them; but I know that those are likely too subtle for someone new to the game.

This project is realy neat. The whole graphics presentation is spot on. Don't change a thing and the audio track is just just phenonomal and as the way the landscape changes as you fly around. Well, awesome. Perhaps in your next upgrade you could make the sky change or rather more dynamic as it reminded my of the sky in Flash Gordon. Well done though. I could never produce something like this.

Wow, thanks! I'm glad you liked it. The sky was something I really wanted to do but didn't have time for.
And I really appreciate the video, I watched it through. The updated version actually finishes when you find all 3 but I'm happy you were able to understand and "complete" the game as it was.
